Electrical Gloves
According to OSHA guidelines, insulating gloves must be tested at intervals not exceeding six months. ASTM F496 outlines proper in-service care and testing standards. For gloves used frequently, monthly testing is recommended to ensure worker safety and compliance.
Rubber Sleeves
Rubber sleeves extend protection from the glove cuff up to the shoulder, shielding users from energized conductors and equipment. To ensure durability and effectiveness, sleeves should be stored properly, kept clean, and protected from chemicals and environmental wear—just like gloves and blankets.
Hotsticks, Shotgun Sticks & Switchsticks
OSHA standard 1910.269(j)(2) requires all live-line tools to be visually inspected and cleaned before each use. Tools showing any defect must be removed from service and tested. When used as primary protection, these tools must be removed from service at least every two years for full inspection, cleaning, and dielectric testing. Any repairs also require retesting before returning to service.
